My movie project

Hello my name is Ethan and this is the start of my research for my two minute opening

Genre

The type of movie that me and my team are trying to create is a horror film. Horror films are made to scare or frighten the viewer. Some examples of horror films are; Us, Get Out, A Quiet Place, Halloween, IT, and so much more. The camera angles that directors use are unique in the aspect that it creates a unsettling feeling in your body. The angles that are typically used are close ups and long shots. The point of a close up in a horror is to show every bit of emotion that the character shows and the point of has a suspenseful sound track or music to keep you on the edge of your seat. The killer/ villain of the film usually wears a mask or something is distorted with them. The killer uses a sharp or blunt weapon such as bats, knifes, chainsaws, axes, ropes, and anything that can inflict a lot of pain on someone. The weapon the the killer uses leaves a lot of blood which is a common convention of horror films. I find some horrors more funny then scary but there's a certain point were you know from just the title its scary. The titles are usually Red or White but has a contrast in the back that bolds out the name. A lot of the ones I researched were either very bolded out and file lining or they were the complete opposite with blood as the title and didn't have straight lines. The letters were majority big to show the boldness of each word. A lot of people state that they don't know why they like horror movies they just like to be scared without having to face the consequences of the killer. They feel like they could "stand on a ledge between life and death without ever really having to risk falling."



My film summary

This week we have been deciding what type of film we might do. At first I wanted to do an action film but my group said it would be to difficult so we all agreed on doing a horror. A summary of the story that we came up; This project will be about a small town in Bulowville, Florida. It was a hot, sunny day, but little did people know there was a murder happening. This was one of the first murders. Young boys and girls were its victims, it stalks its next victim for 3 days until it kills them. When it is done, the victim is skinned, chopped up, and buried in a shallow grave. What does it look like? You never know one day it will be wearing a clown suit the next day it will look like you friendly mail man. This continued until suddenly one of the neighbors died and all the murders stopped.

We don't have a lot more than this but we just started to make a detailed short story of the full movie and then create a 2 minute opening of the short story. The way that we decide to write our story was: one person does the exposition, one person does the raising action, one does the climax, and the last person does falling action and resolution. For the next few weeks we will be doing our portfolio and updating my blog twice a week. This project will take over four months to due but we are taking it step-by-step. Next week we are doing script writing and
